The northern lights this weekend felt like a once in a lifetime event. It was stunning to see, and the sense of awe gave a much needed morale boost.
Below are the few shots I got during the event. I had no idea it would turn into this. I was actually in bed, ready to sleep, and did one last check of aurora activity. After seeing the activity was so high, I dragged myself back outside thinking it would be a dud.
Next time, I would choose a spot with something in the foreground for scale. But I might have to make a trip to the far north for a next time.
These shots show a vibrant and brightly colored aurora. In person it was muted colors. A long exposure photograph can show more detail than the human eye can see. These are not heavily manipulated, but they do not accurately reflect what it was like in person.
